AUGUST UPDATE - Community Survey!
Greetings!
It looks like we're at the beginning of another season (the school season!), and autumn will soon follow.
There are now over 200 of you on our email distribution list and we hope to grow our distribution even more in the coming months! If you or someone you know would like to add your name to the list, you can complete our interest form here.

COMMUNITY SURVEY
Before I get to the full list of our current projects, I'd like to invite you to PLEASE take a moment to complete the Community Survey provided to us by our state partners at Missouri Main Street Connection.
This survey is part of the standard organizational startup process for any Missouri Main Street program and now is the time for our community to weigh in! Our goal is to get at least 100 replies; since our distribution list is at about over 200 recipients, so that means half of you would need to complete this survey for us to meet our goal.
The results of this survey will be reviewed by our board, our committees, and our state partners so that we can set additional goals based on shared community values. Thank you for lending your voice to this important process!
THIS MONTH'S ACTIVITIES & PROJECTS
We attended our first Board Training with Missouri Main Street Connection on August 10th and walked away with new information and perspective on how we can create a sustainable organization driven by our shared community values. We have a LOT of work to do together! Our next Board Training event is being scheduled for October.
In addition, our board has divided into small groups to tackle a variety of organizational projects with goals to be completed before the end of this calendar year; each project has been assigned a board member as project lead. If you happen to be interested in contributing your time/talents to any of these areas, please email, me, Dana (Massin) Ekstrum at dana.ekstrum@gmail.com and I'll connect you with the project lead!
This month we are focused on:
- Getting as many replies as possible on the Community Survey! Please share!
- Preparing our 501c3 paperwork for filing
- Creating our organizational policies & procedures handbook
- Holding our first Committee meetings: Organizational, Promotions, Economic Vitality, Design
- Coordinating business visitations to each downtown business (October-March)
- Completing our Building and Business Inventory for downtown
- Compiling Community Plans and Strategies that have been presented to or designed by downtown stakeholders over the years.
- Coordinating enrollment/attendance for Main Street Boot Camp (Sept 24 in Trenton, MO) and Main Street Quarterly Workshop (Nov 12, Warrensburg, MO)
