YEAR-END UPDATE: Dec 4th Gift Drive & Downtown Clean-Up Report
Greetings, Community Members!
The November Update Main Street Saint Joseph brings lots of fun things to report and a new VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY! We will take a break from our monthly update in December, but look forward to resuming blog updates in January 2022! Read on for more information about November and December happenings...
REPORT: DOWNTOWN CLEAN-UP NOV 20th
The Downtown Cleanup event was a great success and brought together volunteers from--in alphabetical order--the Downtown Association, Ecumenical Eco-Justice (EEJ), and Main Street Saint Joseph!
Nearly 20 volunteers spent time in the park, gazebo area, concession stand, and along the route for upcoming holiday carriage rides removing trash and dog waste, weeding, collecting leaf debris, and planting many new trees to replace the dead ones that were recently removed.
Special thanks to every individual and organization that dedicated their time and love to make sure downtown public spaces are ready for holiday activities and visitors this weekend... and throughout December!
Volunteers with Ecumenical Eco-Justice (EEJ) ensure a newly planted tree is straight and stable.
Volunteers with Main Street Saint Joseph and Downtown Association pose with leaf debris they collected around the gazebo.
- VOLUNTEER TIME COMMITMENT: Volunteers are asked to sign up for a 1-hour shift but may sign up for multiple hour-long shifts if desired!
- RESPONSIBILITIES: Stand or sit in the temperature controlled concession stand and direct gift donations to the gift bins provided by AFL-CIO. There will be no physical labor involved.
- IDEAL VOLUNTEER: Friendly and welcoming demeanor is desired! An adult must be present at all times, but volunteers may be individuals, friends, or families looking for a way to get involved downtown and spread some holiday cheer! The concession stand is temperature-controlled, handicap accessible, and has bathrooms on site, making it a great volunteer opportunity for just about anyone. Seating will be provided, as well as information materials and signage. Festive attire encouraged but not required.
